“Where Have YOU Been?”

Standard

Yup!

I know that’s the question some may be asking.

“She said she would post something at least once a week this year. Well, she barely posted anything in January, and February, that was just a complete write off! Why is she making promises she clearly CANNOT keep?”

OKAY! OKAY! OKAY!

That’s the conversation I just had with: MYSELF. LOL.

Yes. I did say once a week.

Yes. I have looked at the calendar and realize that it is March 7th. (Holy Moly.)

BUT,

Yes! I AM WRITING A BLOG POST!!!

Let me tell you something. Launching a web series, taking on more hours at work, planning two events for the theater company I’m involved with, teaching international students on the LES, AND directing a full-length production of a Greek classic is pretty time consuming.

So…when left with the option of sleeping in, getting brunch or writing a blog post. It is obvious that the latter was never an option I chose.

OOPS.

But let me tell you something, I probably wouldn’t trade these weeks for anything (well, most of them anyway). I have learned so much about myself, what I want, definitely DON’T want, and what I need to stay happy, healthy and whole. Being an adult is tough. Being an artist is hard. Being both? Man, what a challenge.

But let me tell you I am on a journey I would not change. All you have to do is check out these two videos to truly understand why it’s all worth it.

And so I present to you:

Shampagne!

Ciao 🙂

Winter Wandering

Standard

Last week, I had the opportunity to enjoy my last few morsels of vacation with some friends. Getting in a little culture with Bloo at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, wandering around on the east side with Kendra. It was nice to walk around the galleries and get lost on the East Side. It made me realize how busy I had been over the past few months and how much I missed this version of New York. I hope you enjoy the pics!

Happy Friday 😊

2015: The Year in Dance

Video

Woof!

Greetings all!!!

Yes, I am alive. Yes, I have been busy. Yes, the year is basically done. While it has been almost a month since my last entry on New York Dreaming, the blog has not been very far from my mind. In fact, if any of my friends or family members are reading this, you have heard me say on numerous occasions “I haven’t blogged in WEEKS!”

Well, such is life.

I could go into the details of the long filming days for Shampagne, the readings I was able to participate in, That Bachelorette Show fun, my Shakespeare students’ final workshop presentation, et al, but I won’t.

Instead, I have made a compilation of all the dance videos I have created this year! At last count there were 12, one for each month of the year, but more importantly, each video represents a theater or film project I had the opportunity to “open” over the course of this year!

I hope that you had a Merry Christmas and I wish you nothing but the best, in the New Year. For 2016, there will be fewer posts and a new design, but the dreams continue to build and evolve, so I’m not going anywhere!!!

Ciao 🙂

#AboutLastNight

Standard

What a refreshing and lovely weekend! It was jam packed fun in Connecticut celebrating the marriage between my friends Lauren and Brooke. The ceremony was beautiful with Lauren’s father officiating the momentous occasion, quoting scripture and Ghostface Killah. The love was palpable, the food delicious, the tunes fantastic, and new friends were made over the course of the weekend.

A low key rehearsal dinner under the stars and twinkle lights Friday night, allowed us to see the gals one last time before tying the knot. I got to meet the brides’ families and college/childhood friends and trade stories about how we all ended up at the event together.

Apple picking, petting zoo, corn maze and a hayride were the pre-wedding activities I did with Ash Lee and Julia at March Farm. (A check off my bucket list. Woohoo!)

Since I still have limited storage over in my WordPress media, (grumble grumble) you should peep my Instagram feed on the left side of the screen for pics from the weekend!

#AboutLastNight

this is a relatively late post, but hey, better late than never! This weekend was a whirlwind of performances, travel, family time, productivity and friend demanded recovery time. From a fabulous performance at That Bachelorette Show to taking a 6am bus to DC to spend a quick day with my brother and his family to finally nailing down the first weekend of “principal photography” for Shampagne, it was a grand ole time.

Sunday afternoon I was #pooped! But I have recovered for the most part and have a few photos to share

Ciao 😊

This was a tremendous weekend friends! I went on as Mac Jenkins in That Bachelorette Show at 42west on Saturday, danced my butt off and interaced with audience members and my fellow castmates all night. While Saturday was an evening I won’t soon forget, the cherry on top for the weekend was gathering my talented friends in my living room and bringing my baby, Shampagne, to life on steamy Sunday night.

There is nothing that I can write or say to adequately express the multitude of emotions I felt yesterday. If you’re a writer or creator who depends on the strengths and talents of others to bring your creative vision to life you would be better equipped to translate what I mean.

The year is starting to pick up the pace as we stare down the last few weeks of summer. Looking at my vision board from January and seeing what lictures, ideas and quotes have been realized so far is awe inspiring. Focus, drive and the love and support from family and friend shave pushed me so far.

Now it’s time to kick it up one more notch to help make 2015 an extremely memorable and monumental year.

Ciao 😉

St. Thomas, Need I Say More?

Gallery

Well, I’ve finally managed to clear some room from my media library to bring you part one of my St. Thomas vacation recap. I have decided to really come through the hundreds of pictures I took while away and present an edited photo collage of my adventures.

While it has been a month since my trip, I can still smell the water, hear the birds, and feel the salty ocean water on my skin. The only thing I miss more than the breathtaking views and the overwhelming aura of peace and relaxation is Cynthia.

I have to admit it’s pretty awesome to have a friend in this corner of the world. Yes, of course, I miss her, but getting to see her in her new home: thriving, happy, effervescent and carefree, was wonderful to see. My wanderlust has definitely been piqued and I am now thinking ahead to my next great adventure for 2016. I’m thinking Italy! But until then, here are photos from the first three days of my trip on St. Thomas proper. Enjoy 🙂
