Time to Get Focused

Standard

Ferocity requires Focus…

This is an idea I came away with this weekend. If you read my monthly theme last week, you’ll remember that making this month a “fierce” one is a goal I have set for myself. But what does being fierce really entail, at least for me? Well, I’m glad you asked! Dedication, steadfast focus, looking at that subconscious To-Do List and actually checking off all of those ideas, tasks, and phone calls I’ve managed to put off for days, weeks, or even months. Continuing to make myself a priority, and figuring out what makes me tick, smile, happy, stressed and relaxed.

Don’t you just love those days when you are able to enjoy your dinner and say “Gee, I really kicked ass today! What took me so long to do all this stuff?” Well, my friends, that is exactly what I want to be able to say at the end of each day this month! And so with each week, I’ve decided to create mini-challenges for myself. (Fingers crossed, I pass them all with flying colors) This week I have decided to dedicate two hours each day to read and write. I have a great pile of books to choose from; two or three writing projects I have to refine, start, or complete; plus scripts to read, reread, memorize and grow to love.

Rome wasn’t built in a day, and while I love Netflix binge-watching as much as the next person (currently obsessed with Chuck, by the way) Pages and pens, peace and quiet really do compliment each other, and with this gloomy February weather, there is no time like the present to embrace all that two of the three R’s have to offer.

So what do you think? Want to take this mini-challenge with me? Who knows what creativity or curiosity it could unleash…

Ciao 🙂

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday everybody!

Can’t believe the weekend is finally here, because that means I am North Carolina bound, by way of Washington DC. Super excited to see all of my family in Duck, NC for the next eight days, where we will get to spend quality time together laughing, reconnecting and forging new memories. I’m really looking forward to talking with my grandmother (my only living grandparent) about the family tree and stories from Crewe about my mom and her brothers and sisters. I began this project last Thanksgiving and want to continue, working with my mother, and hopefully constructing a physical family tree to begin our family ancestry archive.

I will post a Wandering Wednesday post next week, but all in all, I will be unplugging for the week. So if you miss my updates, check out some of my older posts from the past year and a half until I return to the Big Apple. Or you can watch some of your favorite movies and tv shows on Netflix, Hulu or HBOGO. If the latter applies to you I have a funny PSA to share with you before you get started.

Have a great weekend, week and Labor Day weekend! Hard to believe we’re about to bid another summer adieu.

Ciao 🙂

Spontaneous September Update

Standard

Talk about a busy month so far:

As part of my monthly theme of spontaneity I have taken on two roles in the production “Biting Tongues” playing this weekend in Queens! (Our play was able to advance to the semi-finals of The Secret Theatre’s One-Act Play Festival)

I’ve found a new outlet of volunteering and youth outreach by agreeing to participate in studio classes with the Stella Adler Youth Year 2 Outreach Program taught by friend and fellow Hangar Lab alum, Jason Gray.

So I gotta say that September has definitely allowed acting to land back in my lap and I couldn’t be more grateful or excited about it.

I also made my last trip of the summer to Greensboro, NC to meet the newest addition to my brother’s family, my nephew Jaxen.

Photos are coming of that trip, September goings on, and the long overdue post on my trip to Philadelphia. Whoo! Since starting this blog I have definitely been finding ways to keep myself busy (plus Netflixing OITB, Burn Notice, and White Collar) but all in all me being busy is a great thing for the blog. Because I get to go out into the world, learning new things and doing what I love I will have tons of things to share: thoughts, photos, poetry, criticisms and the like. Thanks for being patient with me and as always for more up to speed postings check out my Instagram: @dramagirl07.

Till the next post…
