Woof!

Greetings all!!!

Yes, I am alive. Yes, I have been busy. Yes, the year is basically done. While it has been almost a month since my last entry on New York Dreaming, the blog has not been very far from my mind. In fact, if any of my friends or family members are reading this, you have heard me say on numerous occasions “I haven’t blogged in WEEKS!”

Well, such is life.

I could go into the details of the long filming days for Shampagne, the readings I was able to participate in, That Bachelorette Show fun, my Shakespeare students’ final workshop presentation, et al, but I won’t.

Instead, I have made a compilation of all the dance videos I have created this year! At last count there were 12, one for each month of the year, but more importantly, each video represents a theater or film project I had the opportunity to “open” over the course of this year!

I hope that you had a Merry Christmas and I wish you nothing but the best, in the New Year. For 2016, there will be fewer posts and a new design, but the dreams continue to build and evolve, so I’m not going anywhere!!!

Tuesday Thoughts

Standard

they move in time to the music

their bodies infused with a boundless energy

observing them, from my perch at the bar, I am envious and enamored

catching glimpses of their syncopated movements

i notice the soft touches, a shimmer of joy in the eyes, and the brief inhalation of shampoo and cologne.

watching them, i come to know them

the tender moments spent in bed,

the passion that could erupt in an argument over whose turn it was to take out the trash,

grocery shopping trips, holidays, inside jokes, and vacations.

her head falls back as the drummer hits the snare again and again

the song’s climax sounds near

yet as he draws her close to him, ready to find an ending

the keyboardist picks up the melody and they continue…

The “Certainty” of May

Standard

So, for the past few months I have been OBSESSED with Ibrahim Maalouf’s album “Wind.” If you don’t know who I’m talking about look him up, an incredible jazz musician. On the album, there is one track that I kept coming to again and again, Certainty. The notes are smooth and lush, when you think of a great kickback melody that you can read a book too with a delicious glass of wine on your nightstand, this is that song!

As my birthday rapidly approaches, I can’t help but laugh at my favorite song of choice. The career I have chosen is anything but “certain,” life as a whole is definitely not “certain,” but what I want to build upon this month is the certainty in my choices. As my mother often reminds me, Life is all about your choices, and I am choosing to make sound ones (excuse the pun).

My resolution for 2015 was to be persistent and consistent, and while Iย may have fallen off the wagon a bit, my goals are still crystal clear, and my handy Vision Board is a constant reminder of what I want to accomplish this year. May is currently filled with performances (Private Lives and staged readings), work (day job and jewelry selling), and friendship celebrations and rekindling (graduations, reunions, visits galore). Tons of great things to look forward to, yeah?

The theme of March definitely bled into April and that drum is still leading the way! “May” you have a great month and see the many opportunities that are waiting for you.

Holiday Mode

Video

Umm…

so Christmas is a week from tomorrow. I haven’t done any shopping. I don’t want to shop. But I must. At least, in addition to the long lines, crowds of people, cold temperatures, and lugging heavy bags onto the subway I can bask in the Christmas tunes pumping through the stores’ speakers. Here are the songs I hope to hear when I finally make my rounds.

Merry Christmas! ๐Ÿ™‚

Holiday Mode

Video

So I am currently in “Holiday Mode” and since I have a blog I thought I would intro a new post for this month! As I go about decorating the apartment, baking, cooking and being plain ole Merry! I will put up songs, videos, quotes, pics, etc that epitomize where my Holiday Cheer is for the day! Today features a Stevie Wonder classic, “Someday at Christmas” and a great photo I came across on Instagram today that really expresses where my mind is in relation to the social stirrings of the week as well as my Christmas spirit. If you get it, feel free to share or just listen to the lyrics ๐Ÿ™‚
