Friday Thoughts

Kisses on noses

The spark that awakens hope

A quick glimmer of what was and what still could be

It happens in an instant

But the ripples in the pools of my mind continue to expand

Searching for the concrete resolution

That never did and never may exist

Happy Friday!

To celebrate my first Rising Circle event-a-palooza as a full-fledged member, here’s a little “foxy” fun! Lyrics are below. 🙂

*I originally posted a short bit of this on Instagram to celebrate my involvement in the One-Minute Play Festival.

A Winner never quits
And a quitter never wins
I thought about what I wanted
And you were on my list

[Verse 2: Justin Timberlake]
Remember where I was?
In the desert with no love
No cactus’s, just dust
And you swept me from above

[Refrain: Both]

[Pre-Chorus: Both]
So I just wanna say
Thank you for this day
Cause it is so good
Good Honey

[Chorus: Both]
You got me feelin’ brand new (brand new)
You got me feelin’ brand new (brand new)
Like the tag’s still on me
Like the tags still on me
Jumpin’ ’round in your bag
Jumpin’ ’round in your bag
So good morning, ooh girl
You are the feeling I’m jammin’ to (brand new)
You are the feeling I’m jammin’ to (brand new)
Like the tag’s still on me
Got the tags still on me

[Refrain x2: Both]

[Verse 3: Pharrell]
Life to me is easy
People make it complicated
When love is the tool
No reason we can’t make it

[Verse 4: Justin Timberlake]
Come on, let’s go, be brave
Feel somethin’ at the [?]
Once we know that amaze
Then give it all away

[Refrain: Both]

[Pre-Chorus]

[Chorus: Both]

[Bridge: Both]
All my life, when I describe
What I want, I’ve been misunderstood
The more I try, at bein’ satisfied
And didn’t think that I could
But then you came along, and you made me strong
Like God said you would

Ciao 🙂

2014: The Year of “See Ya Later’s” (Updated 12/15/14)

2014

As with each year, brought with it a myriad of new opportunities, new friends and new memories, but it also brought a whole bunch of going away parties and tears too. This year I have had to say “See Ya Later” to my two rocks: Cynthia and Morgan, in the SAME MONTH, (you can read about that here), my main girls Jassmine and Nia, new friend Krystina, and Michelle (but she came back). These girls each hold special places in my heart and my life. And I take comfort in the fact that it is indeed a “See Ya Later” and not a “goodbye.”

Below are a few snapshots of the fun we got into in the city or all around the country this year.

*edit: Since publishing this post last week, I’ve had to say “See Ya Later” to another friend. Willow is on her way to Africa once again 😦

Grand total of “See Ya Later’s”: 6

Friends who have returned: 1

The feeling of love I have for them all: Priceless

Ciao 🙂

Happy Friday

Happy Halloween everybody!

It’s a little chilly here in the city today, which means a few people may be shivering in their costumes, but that won’t stop them from heading out tonight and painting the town red. Every year I find myself in the same dilemma, embrace the holiday with all I’ve got or just go about my day normally and enjoy all of the festive people and activities around me. This year is no exception. I have possible plans for the evening and could even scrounge up a costume at Goodwill, if I so choose, but this morning I’m more of the “Let me just put on a wig and call it a day.”

Hard to imagine that tomorrow marks the start of November and this weekend Daylight Savings Time begins. If you want to find out what I decided to do before my post on Monday, check my Instagram to get an update. Below find a few pictures from Halloween’s past.

Ciao 🙂

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday everybody!

Can’t believe the weekend is finally here, because that means I am North Carolina bound, by way of Washington DC. Super excited to see all of my family in Duck, NC for the next eight days, where we will get to spend quality time together laughing, reconnecting and forging new memories. I’m really looking forward to talking with my grandmother (my only living grandparent) about the family tree and stories from Crewe about my mom and her brothers and sisters. I began this project last Thanksgiving and want to continue, working with my mother, and hopefully constructing a physical family tree to begin our family ancestry archive.

I will post a Wandering Wednesday post next week, but all in all, I will be unplugging for the week. So if you miss my updates, check out some of my older posts from the past year and a half until I return to the Big Apple. Or you can watch some of your favorite movies and tv shows on Netflix, Hulu or HBOGO. If the latter applies to you I have a funny PSA to share with you before you get started.

Have a great weekend, week and Labor Day weekend! Hard to believe we’re about to bid another summer adieu.

Ciao 🙂
