Woof!

Greetings all!!!

Yes, I am alive. Yes, I have been busy. Yes, the year is basically done. While it has been almost a month since my last entry on New York Dreaming, the blog has not been very far from my mind. In fact, if any of my friends or family members are reading this, you have heard me say on numerous occasions “I haven’t blogged in WEEKS!”

Well, such is life.

I could go into the details of the long filming days for Shampagne, the readings I was able to participate in, That Bachelorette Show fun, my Shakespeare students’ final workshop presentation, et al, but I won’t.

Instead, I have made a compilation of all the dance videos I have created this year! At last count there were 12, one for each month of the year, but more importantly, each video represents a theater or film project I had the opportunity to “open” over the course of this year!

I hope that you had a Merry Christmas and I wish you nothing but the best, in the New Year. For 2016, there will be fewer posts and a new design, but the dreams continue to build and evolve, so I’m not going anywhere!!!

Ciao 🙂

MMIA: Melissa Missing in Action

Standard

Hello blog world!

Although I know no one has been on the site for two weeks, I wish to greet you all the same.

Let me start off by saying, I am NOT sorry for being MIA. I take great joy in being able to say that I just have not had the time to sit and post photos, memories, and poems because the whirlwind of web series production has completely enveloped all of my free time.

Not only have I been in Shampagne production world, but add on top of that, my Adler Youth Shakespeare class, That Bachelorette Show, a new class in partnership with Pathways to Graduation, Rising Circle events and duties, and the continued NYU day job shuffle, its been pretty quiet on the NYDreaming front.

That being said, I have now determined I must return to the blog-o-sphere with a flourish! However, I’m not really sure how to go about it LOL.

So, I suppose the solution would be to just dive back in. Sure it’s October 12th, but look up and you’ll find my monthly motivations, and a dance video will be hitting the site this Friday (if I have enough media space. grrrr) Anyway, I am back, even while I haven’t really gone anywhere.

For those who stumble upon the page today, thanks for stopping by. For my avid readers, who have been pondering my whereabouts, welcome back! Persistent and Consistent, that’s the mantra for the year, so back on the blogging horse I go!

Ciao 🙂

#AboutLastNight

Standard

this is a relatively late post, but hey, better late than never! This weekend was a whirlwind of performances, travel, family time, productivity and friend demanded recovery time. From a fabulous performance at That Bachelorette Show to taking a 6am bus to DC to spend a quick day with my brother and his family to finally nailing down the first weekend of “principal photography” for Shampagne, it was a grand ole time.

Sunday afternoon I was #pooped! But I have recovered for the most part and have a few photos to share

Ciao 😊

Halfway There

Standard

July tends to be accompanied with a quiet, internal ticking clock. Tick. Tick. Tick. “Are you keeping your resolutions?” “Are you doing your best?” “How can I finish off the year strong?”

While these questions are a little annoying, it’s nice to have these “alarms” going off in the back of my mind. It reminds me to keep pushing, reach higher, and be happy with the progress made to this point.

Halfway there does not necessarily mean a bad thing, instead I see it as a touchstone for the year. A pause in the day-to-day pattern of life, where I can take a step outside of it and appreciate the view. Good friends, good times, and good career moves have occurred and there are even more on the horizon.

Ciao 🙂

Disappearance of Melissa????

Standard

Bonjour one and all!

I am alive! I have just been extremely busy/uninspired/overwhelmed/creatively empowered this month. So much has been happening in April that I haven’t been able to focus on a theme for the month, much less take a deep breath!  Between rehearsals, performances, a quick trip home, to dog sitting, living in Queens for a week, taking tons of behind the scenes photos, to seeing amazing shows, supporting friends, planning brunch reunions, teaching in jail, and catching up on sleep, I have not been able to put all of my adventures down in the blogosphere!

So, since the month is almost up, don’t expect too many posts in the near future. I have to double down and figure out my time management skills more efficiently to bring you awesome content.

Don’t fret the New York Dreamer is still dreaming and is, in fact, involved in tons of amazing adventures. Recaps, catchups, photo galleries, dance videos and more will come, just not now!

Thanks for hanging in and check out my older posts and Instagram page to keep up with me until then.

Ciao 🙂

Oh, Hello There!

Standard

Long time, no write? Yes, I know. I’ve been missing in action over here on New York Dreaming, but never you fret. This is an extremely good thing. 2015, as I might have mentioned numerous times so far, is treating me supremely. Since I last wrote, I was cast in and completed a show, became an artist  member of a theatre company in the city I am extremely proud to be a part of, started rehearsals for another project, in the middle of rewrites for another and added another shift on to my normal duties over at the day job.

Phew!

My passion is definitely in the driver’s seat this year, and that can only mean great things are on the horizon out in the real world and here on the blog. As February begins to wind down, I am ready to flood the home page with all of my adventures and accomplishments from the past two weeks AND ready my mind for my March monthly goals.

There’s a lot to do, and only 3 days to do it. Here goes!!!

Ciao 🙂

Frugal and Fierce February

Standard

February has definitely arrived in the Big Apple people! It’s a winter, slushy, snowy wonderland up here. Even while the puddles of doom loom on every street corner and it is a herculean fete to climb the snow-plowed mountains between yourself and the bus, the winter white reminds us all  me that it’s always best to slow down and enjoy the peace and stillness that this season brings.

As far as monthly motivations go, I think the post title is pretty self-explanatory. Frugal and fierce. I love alliteration obviously, but these characteristics fit seamlessly into my new year’s resolution of consistence and persistence. Things are still moving at a pretty fast clip in terms of my career, I will be in rehearsal for two shows starting this weekend, still exercising my teaching muscle over at Stella Adler, and getting the hang of this “writing thing” while developing a new web series. January was filled with nothing but ups for me, and a lot of that I credit to starting the year off right surrounded by family. So, in order to keep that feeling of love and support, my cousin Lauren and I have decided to have a scheduled family brunch the first Sunday of every month. A great excuse to try out new brunch spots in the city, and check in with one another even as our lives become more complex and busy.

As always, I hope that your January was a successful one and that you are still trying to keep to your new year’s resolutions, themes, or goals as we begin the short month that is February. Keep to your dreams and find inspiration in the world around you.

Ciao 🙂
