#AboutLastNight

Standard

this is a relatively late post, but hey, better late than never! This weekend was a whirlwind of performances, travel, family time, productivity and friend demanded recovery time. From a fabulous performance at That Bachelorette Show to taking a 6am bus to DC to spend a quick day with my brother and his family to finally nailing down the first weekend of “principal photography” for Shampagne, it was a grand ole time.

Sunday afternoon I was #pooped! But I have recovered for the most part and have a few photos to share

Ciao 😊

Labor Day

Standard

Labor Day was a blast! I went on a solo trip to Governor’s Island, where I rented a bike, took some pics, ate a delicious pulled pork sandwich at Little Eva’s and read a book in the sun.

I headed back into Manhattan did some shopping and then hooked up with my girl Monet for wine, tiramisu and conversation. (Kareem was there too, but I forgot to snap his picture 😊)

Shampagne September

Standard

If you read my Monthly Motivations yesterday, you’re familiar with a term that will pop up again and again over the course of September: Shampagne. This month, Shampagne, will become the thing that I eat, sleep and breathe, I hope.

Guys, creating your own work is extremely difficult. I have been through a roller coaster of emotions and I haven’t finalized the script or shot one second on camera. Last week, I was calling everyone I considered to be a rock, sounding off my frustrations, stress, questions, and unresolved internal dilemmas preventing me from moving on to the next step. Luckily, everyone had a listening ear at the ready and some great advice to dish out and today I can tell you that I am back in the driver’s seat, eager to tackle the behemoth of challenges headed my way.

In addition to the show, I am coming into my own over at That Bachelorette Show at 42West! Last week my character almost made it to the final two, so that signals to me I have really started to come into my own as Mac Jenkins. If you’re in the city I strongly urge you to come to the show, it’s a great party with a live DJ, bar, and some eligible “bachelors” milling around the audience.

Back to school, means back to the classroom for me as well! Sure I’ve been teaching out on Rikers Island for the past few months, but I’m super excited to meet the next round of Adler Youth 2 students in the coming weeks and tackle Shakespeare once again!

Me and my class (fall 2014)

Finally, September marks new chapters for some of my closest friends, weddings, birthdays, and milestones!

You know the name of the game:

Gonna keep it going as I take on all the month has to offer.

Monthly Motivations

Standard

August is almost a-go-go-GONE! Pumpkin spice coffee and pastries are popping up in Dunkin Donuts, Halloween decor are in drugstore aisles and the sun is starting to descend earlier and earlier. Hopefully this week’s will be the last heat wave of 2015, but I’m not holding my breath on that one. The breeze is refreshing and the kiddies will soon be back in school!!! (Hallelujah!) The last quarter of the year approaches and with it, I’ve found some great quotes to power me through Shampagne September, named for my web series and honors the weddings, bridal showers and other celebratory events around the corner. I hope they give you a bit of a push like they have me 🙂

August, A-Go-Go-Go

Standard

Guys! A few amazing things have happened since August 1st, that I must share with you:

1.) I spent a long weekend in Prattsville, NY for the Rising Circle season-planning retreat. (thanks Adam!)

2.) I found out that I will be making my Off-Broadway debut this week, in That Bachelorette Show. (eeeeeeeeee!!!!!)

AND,

3.) I had the first production meeting for my passion project, Shampagne, coming to a laptop/iPad/streaming device near you in 2016.

So, forgive me for my laziness absence. Life has just been super crazy in the best possible way. All of these events are just fodder for tons of posts and photo collages, diaries, and fun things to come! Consistently and persistently, the plethora of quotes, goals and images on my image board at the top of the year are bearing fruit. Stick with me everybody, with three and a half months left in the year, who knows how far I will go?

Hot and Steamy Like Mississippi

Standard

Greetings, from heat-wave plagued Harlem! Man, it’s been a little like home these past few days. Even on hot days like these New York still has plenty to offer in terms of free, air-conditioned fun!

Last week, I found myself at both the Metropolitan Museum of Art (amazing Sargent exhibit), and the Studio Museum of Harlem (where the artists in residence had new exhibits up), drinking in the art of classical and contemporary artists alike.

Wandering down Museum Mile and 125th street, I stumbled upon Albertine, a French/English bookstore, and a sidewalk reminder that gave me the push I needed to finish a passion project I have been working on for a few months now.

Maybe it’s because I’m a June baby, maybe it’s because I love summer and heat (to a certain extent) but summer 2015 is pulling out all the stops and I am blissfully chugging along.

Ciao 🙂

St. Thomas Of Course (Part 2)

Standard

Here it is guys! The final post from my St. Thomas extravaganza!  Not gonna lie, flipping through these photos again, brought the memories right back, as I sit in my hot apartment here in Harlem. I can never fully explain how much fun I had in the Virgin Islands, but being able to celebrate my birthday with my closest friend, was the sweetest thing in the world. Hope you enjoy the pics from the Wing Festival, my birthday in St. John, ferry ride pics and a few more beach pics!

Ciao 🙂
