Holiday Mode

Video

So I am currently in “Holiday Mode” and since I have a blog I thought I would intro a new post for this month! As I go about decorating the apartment, baking, cooking and being plain ole Merry! I will put up songs, videos, quotes, pics, etc that epitomize where my Holiday Cheer is for the day! Today features a Stevie Wonder classic, “Someday at Christmas” and a great photo I came across on Instagram today that really expresses where my mind is in relation to the social stirrings of the week as well as my Christmas spirit. If you get it, feel free to share or just listen to the lyrics ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy Friday

Gallery

As I stated on Monday, each Friday post this month will be a dedicated “Flashback Friday” as I go three months at a time through 2014. This week it’s January-March! I sadly learned that I somehow forgot to back up my January photos, so I’ll only be able to repost the ones that originally appeared that month, but for February and March I’ll add a few in the slideshow that you haven’t seen! Hope you enjoy my trip down memory lane.

Holy Moly!

Standard

Holy Moly, you guys! It’s December!

Where on earth did this year go? It just flew by and over the course of the month I will be doing “Flashback Friday” posts featuring three months each week!

I think it’s safe to say that my “Fall First” bucket list, has been a bit of a snooze fest. After taking on extra shifts at the office, participating in readings and becoming involved with a theatre company, free time has definitely been spent with friends or fictional stories courtesy of Netflix, Hulu and the old Broadway. Eh, what can I say? I’m only human ๐Ÿ™‚

My hope, however, is to make up for the lack of posts in November with tons of photos, poetry, quotes, and more for December. With holiday parties, family galas, Christmastime in New York, and any other exciting plans that may fall in my lap, this month shall be spectacular!

So my question for you is…how are you going to finish out 2014?

Managing March

Standard

March definitely snuck up on me this year! I must be honest that the month of February was a little rough for me, but it also helped renew my writing, focus on what steps to take in my career, and open my eyes to mistakes I made and a need to spotlight the positive and not trudge myself through the negative. I go through phases a few times a year where I have trouble deciding where to go, who to speak to, or what should come next and instead of happening in January, February received the brunt of these feelings in 2014. (some may attribute this to Mercury being in retrograde, and even if I had looked into that, I ‘m not sure the stars and planets affected me to this extent).

Butโ€ฆit’s a new month! Spring is on the way (we hope) and performance opportunities are on the horizon, new collaborations have been created, and fresh inspiration has once again awakened me to new possibilities ๐Ÿ™‚ย

The themes I’m working with this month are pretty straight-forward and can be summed up in one word: management. With Lent beginning this Wednesday I get to decide what to rid myself of for 40 days and nights, with a new month I get to have a third fresh start in the year to build on what I have established this year, as well as, revive hidden passions and goals that fell to the wayside. I will approach my finances with renewed vigor (eek), start looking toward the summer with realistic goals and plan for at least one trip to take, in addition to my bi-annual family vacation, where I can recharge my batteries and learn more about myself. Begin to really see if teaching is an outlet I wish to pursue in the future by working with the Stella Adler outreach department this spring on Riker’s Island, and tackling rehearsals and auditions with all that I have!

Phew, a lot to tackle this month, but you know something I look forward to achieving all of them and even more that I haven’t even thought of yet.

On another note, I can’t believe it but my blog also turns one this month!! Exciting to me, considering how hard I fought against it and also at my persistance to keep it up this long. So, in honor of this achievement, I will be putting up a brand new page this month titled “100 Happy Days.” A few of my friends on Facebook and Instagram have been participating in this and I have decided to throw my hat into the ring as well! If you want more information check out the link below to sign up and comment on the page with your “happy moments” as well, after all what bad can come out of highlighting the bright spots in your day?

I hope that your March will be filled with happiness, encouragement and inspiration! Stay with me as I journey through a new year and new dreams in New York! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ciao

New Year, New Vigor

Standard

DSC_2502-2964720823-ODSC_2447-2964708054-ODSC_2427-2964700246-O

As my time at home begins to wind down, I can’ t help but reflect once again on what a great year 2013 was for me! Not only was I able to be in a multitude of projects ranging from script workshops, to one-act play festivals, to film and TV productions, and newly envisioned work of theater canon masters, but I was able to solidify old friendships and readily accept new members to my New York family!

As with all years, there were a multitude of ups and downs, but I believe I’m fortunate in the fact that I can really only see 2013 as a year of positivity and self-growth. I was able to reconnect with a myriad of people who I haven’t seen in years through weddings, dinners, trips upstate, out-of-town visitors, and road trips to the Coast.

Starting this blog was definitely one of the major contributors to 2013’s success. Feeling accountable to myself (and I suppose the few readers) I was able to look at New York with fresh eyes, taking photos with a new POV, and hankering for opportunities and adventures that would be great experiences to retell and photograph for the site. Looking back, my original motivation was to finally give in to my mother’s advice, but also to get me out of bed at a decent hour to see everything my new neighborhood and the city had to offer me ๐Ÿ™‚

Looking ahead to 2014, I have decided that resolutions for the year may not be practical for me at this point, and instead I’ve chosen to go a different route ย and make resolutions for the next three months. I must admit that I read my Cosmo horoscope for the year with trepidation, but to be honest there were a few golden nuggets of truth I’d like to hang on to. The main one being that I need to grab life by the horns this month, really taking charge of my acting career and setting building blocks in place so I can really get ahead this year.

As always, I need to look at the year with an open mind and an open heart, reminding myself that I have a responsibility to myself, my family, and my Creator to live up to my potential and transcend it. Woof, transcendence. (A theme for the year? Too early to tell)

I hope you’ll join me as I take all of the twists and turns headed my way! I plan to blog about them all!!!!
